Chris has studied Chinese history and culture for more than 15 years and has devoted the past 10 years of his life to improving environmental protection in China. Working as a Foreign Expert in environmental protection in the College of Environmental Science and Engineering at Nankai University in Tianjin for the past 10 years Chris has contributed to a wide range of international, national and local initiatives to improve environmental protection and education.
In 2005, along with his wife Pearl Liao Hong (associate professor and accomplished environmentalists from the Tianjin/Beijing area) Chris helped publish the first book about the history of US environmental management in the Chinese language.
For the past several years Chris has been researching the history of Chinese environmental ethics.
