Bi Jun

Expertise:
Environmental policy, risk management, industrial ecology, watershed management, and sustainable development, specifically with a focus on China’s environment and other Asian countries.
Experience:
Dr. Jun Bi is a Professor and Dean of School of Environment, Nanjing University. In addition, as the executive director of Center for Environmental Management and Policy, a joint institute established by Nanjing University and Jiangsu Provincial Environmental Protection Department, he promotes environmental policy innovations (e.g. watershed emission trading program) and public-private partnership in regard to good environmental governance and performance.
He has worked as research scholar and consultant at the World Bank, Harvard University, Rutgers University, University of Waterloo, and Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is also a senior consultant for the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, OECD, UNEP, IGES, and Chinese governments.
His research group of 30 young scholars and graduate students is now very active in more than ten important research projects. Specifically, he is now the leading scientist of two national key R&D programs, and PIs of other ten national and international projects. So far, he has participated in more than 50 projects in environmental field and published more than 100 papers and books in various languages.
He has built strong reputation in environmental fields by holding several key positions for different ministries and societies, such as: Member of Environmental Committee for Anti-Earthquake and Hazard Remediation, MOST; Member of Technical Committee, Water Environmental Strategy & Policy Theme, National “Water Pollution Control” R&D Program, MEP & MOC; Deputy Director of Technical Committee, 863 National R&D Project on Environmental Risk and Emergency System, MOST; Advisors of Jiangsu Provincial Government and Nanjing Municipal Government; Associate Chair of Environmental Planning Committee, Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences (CSES); Member of Environmental Economics Committee, CSES; Member of Environmental Education Committee, CSES; Standing Board Member of Committee of Industrial Ecology, Chinese Society of Eco-Economics ; Editorial Board Member of Business Strategy and the Environment, John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.; and Former Nominating Committee of International Society for Industrial Ecology.
